Venachar Lochside Wedding Photography – The Wedding Day
Morning Preparations at Loch Venachar Lodges
Claire spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids at Loch Venachar Lodges while Kenneth prepared nearby at Campbell Lodge on the Leny Estate with his groomsmen.

The lodge provided a beautiful space for the morning preparations, with large windows filling the rooms with soft natural light - spaces like this always photograph beautifully.
The styling throughout the wedding worked perfectly against the Scottish surroundings. Kenneth and his groomsmen wore traditional Scottish attire, while the bridesmaids wore elegant deep berry dresses that added a rich splash of colour throughout the day. Claire's gown, with its delicate lace sleeves, suited the relaxed yet elegant feel of the wedding perfectly.

A Private First Look in the Coorie Lodge Gardens
Before the ceremony, Claire and Kenneth chose to see each other privately in the gardens around Coorie Lodge.
Having photographed their pre-wedding photoshoot a few weeks earlier, they already knew how I work and felt completely comfortable in front of the camera. That familiarity meant we could keep everything relaxed and natural, allowing them to focus on enjoying the moment rather than worrying about being photographed.

The first look gave them a chance to spend a few quiet minutes together before the celebrations began. Away from guests and timelines, they could simply enjoy seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day.
After returning to the lodge, Claire shared another emotional first look with her mum and stepdad before leaving for the ceremony. It was a lovely moment filled with smiles, hugs, and a few tears.
Outdoor Ceremony Overlooking Loch Venachar
Throughout the week leading up to the wedding, the forecast seemed determined to predict heavy rain. Even on the morning itself, while Claire was getting ready, every weather app still suggested a wet day ahead. Thankfully, the weather had other plans.
Claire and Kenneth were able to have the outdoor ceremony they had hoped for, exchanging vows on the decking overlooking Loch Venachar with family and friends gathered around them.
The ceremony was led by Melanie Leckie and featured live music from Mira K Duo, creating a relaxed and personal atmosphere from start to finish.

There were plenty of emotional moments throughout the ceremony. Both Claire and Kenneth became emotional at different points, while family members watching on could hardly hold back tears themselves.

For a few minutes, a light drizzle appeared during the ceremony. After spending the week worrying about heavy rain, nobody seemed remotely bothered. If anything, it simply felt like part of the experience of getting married outdoors in Scotland.
The handfasting, exchange of rings, first kiss, and the hug that followed were some of the most emotional moments of the ceremony, watched by family and friends against the backdrop of Loch Venachar.

Family Photos, Confetti & Portraits Before the Rain Arrived
After the ceremony, we made the most of the continued dry weather. Family photographs, confetti, and bridal party photos all took place outside while guests enjoyed the scenery around the venue.

Timing really was on Claire and Kenneth's side throughout the day. The rain held off long enough for everything they had hoped for.
When it came to couple portraits, we explored a few different areas around the venue, including the shoreline, the gardens surrounding Coorie Lodge, and the pier beside the loch.
Having photographed Claire and Kenneth's pre-wedding photoshoot a few weeks earlier, they already knew what to expect, which helped everything feel relaxed and natural.

The lochside views and surrounding landscape provided a beautiful backdrop while still allowing us to keep portraits quick and enjoyable before returning to their guests.
The scenery around Venachar Lochside is exactly what many couples imagine when they picture a Scottish wedding venue - dramatic landscapes, open water, rolling hills, and a real sense of space.

Almost as soon as we finished the portraits, the weather finally changed. The skies darkened, the rain arrived properly, and it continued for much of the afternoon. By that point, though, we'd already managed to capture everything outdoors.
First Dance & Evening Celebrations
The reception meal took place upstairs within the main venue building before guests moved downstairs for the evening celebrations.
Kenneth delivered a short speech that had guests laughing before everyone settled in for the evening.

Claire and Kenneth then cut their cake before sharing their first dance together.

Live music once again played a big part in the celebrations, with members of Mira K Duo joined by an additional musician to create a lively atmosphere that quickly filled the dance floor.
The energy throughout the evening perfectly reflected the rest of the day - relaxed, fun, and focused on enjoying time with the people who mattered most.
