Boreland Loch Tay Wedding Photographer – Erica & Jordan’s Outdoor Ceremony

Erica and Jordan chose Boreland Loch Tay for their wedding because of the setting. The loch, the hills, and the open landscape create a very Scottish view, with sheep grazing nearby and space to take it all in. It’s a setting that works beautifully for an outdoor ceremony. With many guests travelling from outside Scotland, it was also a chance for them to experience the landscape properly, not just as a backdrop, but as part of the day itself.

Erica originally came to Edinburgh from the USA for a year of study, never expecting her life to change. One evening, in a pub neither of them had planned to visit, she met Jordan. Near the end of her stay, Jordan told her he loved her and Erica stayed.
As a Boreland Loch Tay wedding photographer, I loved capturing their day in a relaxed, candid way, focusing on real moments as they naturally unfolded.

Boreland Loch Tay Wedding Photographer – An Outdoor Ceremony by the Loch
The ceremony took place outdoors, with Loch Tay and the surrounding hills behind them. The weather in early September was ideal - calm, comfortable, and just right for being outside.
Guests were seated facing the view, with the landscape becoming a natural part of the ceremony. It felt open and relaxed, with everyone fully present and taking in the moment.
Friends and family travelled from all over the world to be there, including the USA, Australia, and beyond. Bringing everyone together in a place like this made the ceremony feel even more meaningful.

The Wedding Day Atmosphere
After the ceremony, we took a short drive down towards the loch for couple portraits, while guests stayed back at the venue enjoying themselves. The stony shoreline and open views over Loch Tay made a simple, natural setting for photos and fitted perfectly with the relaxed feel of the day.

Back at the venue, the day flowed easily into drinks, conversation, and time spent outside. There was a lot of energy around the venue, with guests enjoying the views, playing games outdoors, and making the most of the space.

Speeches took place before the meal and were full of laughter and emotion. Later, guests took part in a whisky tasting, which was a great way to bring people together and add something distinctly Scottish to the day.

In the evening, a band kept the celebrations going, and with sunset coming later at the beginning of September, nothing felt rushed. The day finished with sparklers, with the bridal party getting involved. It was a perfect way to end the day - sparklers are one of the easiest ways to add something special to wedding photos, bringing great energy, a little chaos, a little romance, and a lot of fun.

Why Boreland Loch Tay Is Such a Great Wedding Venue
Boreland Loch Tay is a flexible venue that works beautifully for outdoor ceremonies with views over Loch Tay and the surrounding hills - many couples choose to take their vows facing the loch. At the same time, the venue has indoor spaces, like the barn and other function areas, which are often used for parts of the day such as the meal, speeches, or evening celebrations. This mix of outdoor and indoor areas means couples have options if plans change or if they want to bring part of the celebration inside, while still keeping everything feeling connected and comfortable for guests.
If you’re planning a wedding at Boreland Loch Tay and want photos that feel natural, relaxed, and true to how the day really feels, I’d love to hear more about your plans.
