Andrew and Kerry’s wedding was a lovely mix of tradition and personality, starting with a church ceremony at Barry Parish Church before heading to Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa on the Angus coast for their celebrations. As a Carnoustie wedding photographer, this is an area I know well, and it’s always a great setting for a relaxed wedding day. Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa wedding photography works especially well here because everything is close by, from the ceremony locations to the beach.
The morning started at the church, with Kerry arriving in a Bentley, while Andrew made his entrance in a lorry - fitting perfectly with his job and adding a really personal touch to the day. After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside for confetti, which is always one of those moments where everyone comes together.

From there, they headed to Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa (again in the lorry) which definitely turned a few heads and got everyone smiling. With the weather about to turn, we went straight into a group photo and made sure to include their dog, which was such a nice touch.

After that, we made the most of the location and headed down to the beach for a few couple portraits. Having the sea so close is one of the best things about this venue, and it gives you a completely different feel to your photos without needing to travel far.

On the way back, Andrew wanted a few photos with lorries, which I was more than happy to do. I’m always open to ideas like this - if something means a lot to you, it should be part of your day. Those photos ended up being some of the most personal images from the wedding, and something that really reflects who they are. Not long after that, the weather changed and the rain came in, so the timing worked out perfectly.

Back at the hotel, the day continued with speeches, cake cutting, and the first dance. The atmosphere stayed relaxed and full of energy, especially once the band got going. One of the most fun parts of the evening was when Kerry’s dance teacher joined in to show everyone some moves, getting guests involved and bringing people onto the dance floor. At that point, Kerry swapped into cowboy boots and fully joined in, which summed up the whole day - fun, relaxed, and completely their own.

Why Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa Wedding Photography Works So Well for Weddings
Carnoustie Golf Hotel and Spa is a great option if you’re planning a wedding in Angus, especially if you like the idea of being close to the coast. The location is one of its biggest strengths. Set right next to the famous Carnoustie Championship golf course and just a short walk from the beach, it gives you a mix of coastal and open landscape for your photos.

It’s also very convenient for guests, with everything in one place - ceremony space, reception, and accommodation. That makes the day feel easy and well-paced, without needing to travel between locations. From a photography point of view, having the beach so close is a big advantage. As a Carnoustie wedding photographer, it’s one of those locations that gives you variety without needing to travel far. The space inside the hotel works well for both smaller, more relaxed weddings and larger celebrations, so it’s quite flexible depending on what you’re planning.
