Caroline and Sam chose Cottiers in Glasgow for their wedding because it feels different. Set in the heart of the city, Cottiers is a former church wedding venue, with stone walls, stained-glass windows, and soft, atmospheric light that gives the space a real sense of character. It’s a venue that feels intimate and warm, even in the middle of Glasgow.

Caroline got ready at a nearby hotel with her bridesmaids. During the morning, Sam sent her flowers, which arrived while everyone was getting ready - a quiet moment that meant a lot. There was a toast with the bridesmaids, followed by a first look with Caroline’s dad before heading to the venue for the ceremony.

As a Cottiers wedding photographer based in Scotland, I loved capturing their day in a relaxed, candid way, focusing on real moments as they naturally unfolded.

Cottiers Wedding Photography – Ceremony in a Historic Space

The ceremony took place inside Cottiers, surrounded by warm light filtering through the stained-glass windows. Caroline was walked down the aisle by her dad, and the emotion of that moment filled the room.

The ceremony included a handfasting, adding another meaningful layer to the day and fitting beautifully with the historic setting of Cottiers as a Glasgow wedding venue. As Caroline and Sam walked back down the aisle together, they shared a dip kiss in the middle - a joyful way to finish the ceremony.

The Wedding Day Flow

After the ceremony, we moved straight into family photos and a few group photos with the bridal party just outside Cottiers, making the most of the space without pulling Caroline and Sam away from their guests for too long. They were keen to stay present, so couple portraits were kept brief, which suited the pace of the day perfectly.

We also took a moment for a photo with their dog before guests spent time chatting and catching up inside the venue. The atmosphere stayed relaxed and social, with people enjoying being together rather than moving from one thing to the next - something I often see at Cottiers weddings.

Speeches followed later on, including a surprise video prepared by one of the guests, which brought both laughter and emotion into the room. After that came cake cutting, first dance, and a father-and-daughter dance - simple, genuine moments that rounded the day off beautifully.

Why Cottiers Is Such a Unique Glasgow Wedding Venue

Cottiers stands out as a Glasgow wedding venue because of its architecture and light. The former church setting creates a strong sense of place, while still feeling welcoming and cosy, which is why it works so well for natural, documentary-style Cottiers wedding photography.

For couples planning a city wedding who want something with character and atmosphere, a wedding at Cottiers offers a balance of history, warmth, and personality, without feeling formal or overwhelming.

If you’re planning a wedding at Cottiers in Glasgow and want photos that feel natural, relaxed, and true to the day, I’d love to hear more about your plans.
