Afzal and Oge’s wedding was a celebration we’ll remember for a long time. It was a Nigerian Igbo wedding in Scotland, full of colour, tradition, and genuine emotion, set across two very different locations and unfolding naturally throughout the day.

The morning began at Kinmount House, where both Afzal and Oge got ready. While Oge was preparing, Afzal and his groomsmen spent time together playing billiards, easing into the day before it began in earnest. July weather brought rain earlier on, but it eased just in time for everyone to head out for the ceremony.

As a Kinmount House wedding photographer, I loved capturing their day in a relaxed, candid way, focusing on real moments as they naturally unfolded.
Kinmount House Wedding Photography – A Day Across Two Locations
A vintage car arrived to take Oge to the ceremony, while guests were already gathered at St Columba’s Church, waiting for her arrival. The church was full of family and friends, creating a warm and emotional start to the day as Afzal and Oge became husband and wife.

After the ceremony, Afzal and Oge returned to Kinmount House in the vintage car. We used this moment for drone photographs as they drove through the grounds, capturing the scale of the venue and the surrounding landscape from above.

Family photos followed, and after the meal we took a few relaxed portraits of Afzal and Oge before they changed outfits and the celebrations continued. Earlier rain had cleared by this point, and the grounds felt fresh and calm, working beautifully for photos once the weather settled.

The Igbo Wedding Celebration at Kinmount House
The traditional Igbo celebration began with a real lift in energy, starting with an entrance by African acrobats that immediately set the tone for the evening. Afzal entered first with his groomsmen, followed by Oge and her bridesmaids. The colours were brighter, the reactions louder, and the atmosphere instantly more vibrant.

There were traditional elements woven throughout the evening, including the kola nut ceremony and the palm wine ritual. Oge carried a cup of palm wine as she searched for Afzal among the guests. When she found him, she offered him the wine, and he drank from it - a symbolic moment representing their union and commitment.
The money spray followed, filling the room with movement and excitement. It was a joyful and meaningful part of the celebration, with guests showing their support and wishing the couple well for the future.

Drone Photography and the Flow of the Day
Drone photography played a bigger role in this wedding than usual, at Afzal and Oge’s request. Kinmount House has expansive grounds that work especially well from the air, and the conditions on the day allowed us to make full use of that.

One standout moment was capturing Afzal and Oge driving through the grounds in the vintage car after the church ceremony. From above, the movement of the car, the scale of the estate, and the setting all came together in a way that’s impossible to capture from the ground.
Aerial photography adds something different to a wedding gallery. It shows the wider story - the setting, the space, and how the day fits into its surroundings and for this wedding, it added a cinematic layer that suited the venue and the pace of the day perfectly.
Evening Celebrations and Outfit Changes
Later in the evening, Afzal and Oge stepped outside for cake cutting, joined by smoke bombs and sparklers. It was lively, colourful, and full of energy, and a great moment to bring everyone together outdoors.

As the night went on, Oge changed into her third outfit before the celebrations moved fully into party mode. A DJ kept the dance floor busy, and the atmosphere stayed high well into the evening.
Why Kinmount House Works So Well for Cultural Weddings
Kinmount House is a venue that allows weddings to evolve throughout the day. With space for getting ready, indoor celebrations, and access to beautiful outdoor grounds, it works particularly well for weddings that include different traditions, outfit changes, and multiple parts - something that became clear while photographing Afzal and Oge’s day through my Kinmount House wedding photography.
For Afzal and Oge, it provided a setting where their Igbo traditions could be celebrated fully, while still feeling relaxed and welcoming for all their guests.
If you’re planning a wedding at Kinmount House whether it includes cultural traditions, multiple outfit changes, or a full-day celebration and you want photos that feel natural, respectful, and true to the day, I’d love to hear more about your plans.
