This Carlogie House wedding in Angus, just outside Carnoustie and not far from Dundee, was a small and relaxed celebration with a really personal feel. It was the kind of day that felt more like a family gathering than a traditional wedding, which suited the setting perfectly.

Being based in Dundee & Angus, weddings like this are always close to home for me. Carlogie House wedding photography works especially well for smaller, intimate days like this, where everything can happen in one place without feeling rushed.

They rented the house for a few days, which made everything feel unhurried from the start. Instead of everyone arriving and leaving within hours, there was time to settle in, spend time together, and actually enjoy it.

It was a weekday wedding, small and simple, with their children, closest family and friends around them. The morning felt calm, with people moving between rooms, chatting, helping out, and just being together. One of the nicest parts of the day was how involved everyone was. Family helped with the food and the bar, which made it feel even more personal. Nothing felt staged or overly planned, it just came together naturally.

After the ceremony, everyone gathered outside for confetti. Even though it was the middle of March, the weather was sunny and surprisingly warm, which made it even nicer to be outside together for a bit. The speeches were a real highlight of the day - emotional, honest, and full of meaning. You could feel how much it meant to everyone there. After that, everyone moved into the living room, spending time together, chatting, and enjoying the meal. They chose Chinese food for the wedding, which felt so personal - the groom’s parents had run a Chinese restaurant after moving to Scotland, making it a meaningful touch. Serving the meal after the speeches kept the day relaxed, informal, and perfectly suited to this small, family-focused wedding.

We stepped out briefly for a few quick, candid couple portraits around the grounds, just enough to capture some moments before heading straight back. They wanted to stay present with their guests, which matched the overall relaxed, intimate atmosphere perfectly.

Why Carlogie House Wedding Photography Works So Well for Small Weddings

Carlogie House is a great option if you’re planning an intimate wedding in Angus. For this couple, with two little children under four, it was the perfect choice - the space and privacy made it easy for their kids to be part of the day without feeling restricted.

There’s plenty of room inside and outside, including a playground on the grounds, which is ideal if you have children attending or just want everyone to feel comfortable moving around. The private house feel, combined with the freedom to plan your own schedule, makes it easy to create a relaxed, family-focused wedding that doesn’t feel rushed.

Planning a Wedding at Carlogie House – FAQs

Can you get married at Carlogie House?

Yes, you can have your ceremony at Carlogie House, but you’ll need to arrange the legal side with a registrar or celebrant. Many couples choose to have everything in one place, which works really well for a relaxed, private day.

Is Carlogie House a good option for an intimate wedding?

It’s a great fit for intimate weddings. The space feels comfortable rather than too large, and the private house setting makes the whole day feel more personal and relaxed.

How does the timeline usually work for a wedding here?

One of the biggest advantages is flexibility. There’s no strict schedule, so you can plan the day around what feels right for you, whether that’s a slower morning, longer time with guests, or a more informal structure without set time pressures.

Can you organise your own catering and drinks?

Yes, and that’s a big part of why couples choose Carlogie House. You can bring in your own catering or keep things simple and personal, like this wedding, which makes the day feel more relaxed and tailored to you.

Is it a good choice if you have young children at your wedding?

Definitely. There’s plenty of space for kids to move around, and having both indoor and outdoor areas (including a playground) makes it much easier for families to relax and enjoy the day.

Can you stay at Carlogie House for a few days around your wedding?

Yes, and that’s one of the best things about it. Staying for a few days means you’re not rushing, and you get proper time with your family and friends before and after the wedding itself.
