Scone Palace Wedding Photographer – Emily & Neil’s Rose Garden Ceremony

Emily and Neil’s wedding at Scone Palace was a joyful, relaxed celebration set within one of Scotland’s most historic venues. Known as the Crowning Place of Scottish Kings, Scone Palace offers incredible architecture, beautiful gardens, and a sense of occasion that makes it a truly special place to get married.

Their ceremony took place in the Rose Garden, a private area of the estate, giving the day an intimate feel while still making the most of everything Scone Palace has to offer.

As a Scone Palace wedding photographer, I love how the venue allows couples to enjoy a day that
feels both grand and personal, while still feeling relaxed and unforced.
Getting Ready at Scone Palace
Both Emily and Neil got ready at Scone Palace, making use of the elegant rooms within the house. The morning had an easy, unhurried feel, with family and friends close by as final preparations took place.
Emily shared a first look with her dad before they walked downstairs together, a really emotional moment before the ceremony. Neil preferred not to have photographs from the early stages of his prep, but he did want a few shots with his groomsmen and their dog before the ceremony.

The Rose Garden Ceremony at Scone Palace
The ceremony took place in the Rose Garden at Scone Palace, with guests gathered under a marquee and a harpist playing as Emily walked in. The setting felt romantic and personal, perfectly suited to the way they planned their day.
Their dog was involved throughout the ceremony, and the handfasting added another meaningful layer. Straight after the ceremony, guests showered them with confetti before a piper led everyone towards the front of the palace.

Family Photos and Couple Portraits at Scone Palace
Family photos were taken on the Scone Palace steps, using the grand façade as a backdrop. After that, we took a short set of couple portraits around the grounds, keeping everything relaxed and efficient so Emily and Neil could quickly rejoin their guests. We also made sure to include a photo with their dog, who had been part of the day from the very beginning.

Why Scone Palace Is Special for Weddings
Scone Palace is a venue that offers both history and flexibility. From the elegant interiors to the private gardens, it allows couples to plan a day that feels personal while still being set in a truly iconic Scottish location. The Rose Garden works beautifully for outdoor ceremonies, and the surrounding grounds provide a timeless setting for portraits without needing to go far.
Scone Palace Wedding Photographer
As a Scone Palace wedding photographer, I really enjoyed documenting Emily and Neil’s day in a way that felt true to them - focusing on genuine moments, meaningful details, and the natural flow of the day rather than forcing anything. Having photographed weddings at historic venues across Scotland, I know how to work with the space, light, and pace of the day to keep everything relaxed.
